Having WoW Issues

Hey all. Thank you in advance for your help, if you can.

I tried going through the latest 1.1 upload and configurations,...with much pain. Yes, I did the Mac thing at first - but I corrected it, even before reading about it here. In fact I was going to post the "mac" issue, but I was busy trying to correct it. Anyway...

I'm not sure if this counts as a MazzleUI question, as I have currently disabled it and all associated files...and and sort of happy with the outcome, for the moment...the issue I'm having is there is text that used to sit above the trinket section of the UI reflecting FPS, Time, etc,..which now sits in the middle of the screen, stacked on top of each other. How do I get rid of that?

Second, how do I go about moving, adjusting, etc: the two chat boxes on on the bottom right or the action bars above them,..especially as I do not have MazzleUI running?

My goal is to understand what each add-on does, what it called and how to adjust it before trying to go back to a full MazzleUI.

I have attached a picture to show what I'm talking about.

Killing Trackbacks

Opps! I just found out that this site was getting huge traffic, and I didn't know why. OK, there are a lot of old entries that people could be searching for, and maybe they liked what they found. But it still didn't make sense. Then I found the culprit - trackbacks and link spamming. Well, turning it off. Ugh. I hate web advertising.

A Washington Weekend w/Randy and Family

As it was Randy's 50th birthday - and Mom had planned a surprise bash that included dinner at a wine bar in Georgetown, a night at the Kennedy Center for "The Phantom of the Opera" and a few add-on festivities - we jumped up to D.C. for the weekend. Glyn & Lisa, Mandi & Evan were all in on the surprise as well. We just hoped that Mom wouldn't let here excitement clue Randy as to our (her) plans...

The last time we were in Washington (I had an overnight MCPAC meeting) the weather was horrid - freezing rain that turned to snow and sloshed the city as is typical of the (southern) north-east coast. Thankfully, this time the weather was perfect and Sybille could finally see the US Supreme Court Building - a site missed last time. We also visited (briefly) the Air & Space Museum to watch the new IMAX feature about thrill seekers; we strolled through the wonderful (and completely bug-free) botanical gardens; and took snaps of the Capital building.

...Mom's excitement. It did get the best of her in the end (as we all knew it would). They showed up at the wine bar a full 45-50 minutes early. In fact they were the first to arrive. I haven't thrown too many surprise parties, but I'm fairly sure that the guest of honor isn't supposed to get there first. It just kind of messes up the whole idea of everyone yelling, "Surprise!"

Thankfully, Sybille and I were standing on the corner - trying to find the address - when we watched them walk in. Flabbergasted, we quickly called Mandi and Glyn - gathered the troops and sang our way through the door - much to Randy's surprise. So it worked out in the end. And dinner was fantastic. Great fish.

The rest of the weekend went off without a hitch. We laughed, told stories, and had great food. "Family" time. And everyone was happy. I even caught a snap of Glyn and Lisa doing a little dance number just before going in to see "Phantom." We had a wonderful time and I wish Randy an excellent birthday.

PS: One of the "fun" things we noticed about D.C. is all the different cab companies ... so we caught a few snaps over the weekend from our perch at the hotel's outdoor cafe overlooking 15th and H Street. They all come to the same spot waiting for hotel guests. You can shortcut to them here: DC Cabs. Our favorite is the "Presidential Ass'n Cab"! I'm not really sure what that means, but I don't think it means what it looks like.

I'm trying to get the MTSomeDays tags to work correctly but I lost the manual for proper coding. This sucks as a result. Too much trial and error. Plus it looks as if I have to rebuild the index template each time I want it to work. Maybe I have the dynamic publishing set wrong.

I will follow ... 'til the end of the World

(Note: This is the start - a mishmash of thoughts - for a larger, as of yet unwritten piece on the unconditional love that we have for a band that carries us through the ups and downs of love with people.)

Before iTunes, before Bono was a household name in the political sphere, before they were main-stream or before they were old, I have loved “my band” - U2!

I fell in love for the first time with them by my side. I re-learned how to love with them screaming in my ear. And I knew what love really, really meant when they spoke to me in deep words handed down from the poet gods.

I lost my virginity while they coaxed my girlfriend's clothes off. And later, I realized manhood - or the childish impressions of it - as they held our hands when she had an abortion. And later still, I understood the realities of life when I left her behind and went off to college - their songs making the trip while she didn't.

Such is the beginnings of a man's life, but only a start when it comes to the love affair he has with a band. I hate to admit it but there isn't a part of my life - a serious change in my life - where a U2 song isn't attached, in my brain. My first love: “All I Want Is You” and “With our Without You”. My first heartache: “Staring at the Sun” or the “Sweetest Thing”. My divorce: “Walk on”, a “Summer Rain” or “Please”. My life, in general: “Bad” - which isn't a 'bad' song, but maybe the best song ever performed...and I got to see it live, finally, after 20 years of begging. (“Bad” is about nothing or it is about everything. There is no sense to it. Its raw. Its music. Its life, and it speaks to my core. Never have I cried so much as when I heard this song played live!)

(...more later...)

Just a thought

People love to say, “But, I don't do windows.”

Why? Windows aren't really all that difficult to clean; and the reward of doing them is evident immediately - giving the cleaner instant satisfaction. The only real difficulties come depending on the perfectionist status of the one doing the windows.

The Matarazzos I know

My buddy's brother is a singer/songwriter...and his name is Robert.

I first met George's brother Robert in a smoky NY club. When I arrived, Robert was already on stage and his proud and helpful brother was running about setting things up - living in the vicariousness to his sibling that can only be applied to the brotherly love and selflessness that is George. He is surely the only man I know who's endless pride can be quelled by his willingness to allow the ego of those he loves to be quenched. <-- read it again. I had to as well, but its true.

Anyway, Robert: He sings like a girl. Meaning he sounds like one. He has a four hundred and seven octave range and chooses to sing in the higher ones, so when you listen to him sing but aren't listening to the words and the depth of the lyrics you swear you are hearing a pop-girl belt out ballads she didn't write. But like all the Matarazzos I know, they grow on you.

Usually about five or six minutes (or eight) into a Robert tune I feel the hairs on my neck stand up - fully aware of the magic. It takes that long because he's one guy, one guitar and one microphone. Ah...and one loop-machine! But its still only one man. You see, the art that is Robert is that he builds everything in front of you, piece-by-piece, and somewhere in the late minutes you hear what he was trying to share with you from the start - and its fucking magic.

Check him out: Robert Matarazzo - and while you're listening, remember: 1 man, 1 guitar - that it!

While writing this I felt the hairs go on-end as I listened to: Anger=Game by Robert Matarazzo.
